Sharing Faith Dinners

Sharing Faith dinners provide an opportunity to gather around a meal to participate in life together. At each dinner, a moderator will prompt participants to share stories of faith with printed questions. These Sharing Faith Dinners invite people into a safe and welcoming space to share stories of life and faith, as well as build relationships.

Working Definitions of the Department - "Mission" and "Evangelism"

Joining in God’s Reconciling Work by Seeing, Sharing, and Acting in the Love of God

Evangelism involves sharing and invited others into the “good news” that God is already active and present in the all of life. We are to be transformed with renewed “eyes” and “hearts” so that we might identify, name, lift up, and join with God’s work in our world. We “good news” in our world as we share the love of God in Christ and enter into the reconciliation already achieved in the life and work of Christ.

Mission is centered in God’s life and work. God is reconciling the world to God’s self and has called the church to enter into that transforming activity. The genesis of mission is found in God’s being – always loving and reaching outward to God’s beloved world.  Mission is accomplished as we are renewed and transformed by God so we might share in what God is doing in our lives, neighbor’s lives, our surrounding community/region, and indeed, the world. Mission involves “seeing,” “being” and “doing” the love of God. The church doesn’t have a mission. God has a mission, and calls the church to co-create, co-operate, and participate in that mission. God has a mission with a church to accomplish it. As the church we are “sent” - we “go” - to carry out the reconciling work of God.

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”
2 Corinthians 5:18
