Loading...Ellie Nolan, a University of Louisville sophomore and member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, has been accepted into a much sought-after work study program for the Fall 2010 Semester at Sea voyage. Also sailing on the voyage will be faculty member Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who has participated in the program several times and recently announced that he will retire from public work this year.
Ellie, the daughter of Sue Ellen and Rob Nolan, was chosen for a position in the Student Life Office, where she will be the program assistant to the Rev. Donna McNiel, the Living/Learning Coordinator specializing in religion and spirituality. Ellie said she is looking forward to working McNiel, who is not only an Episcopal priest from the Diocese of San Joaquin but is also a graduate of Louisville Seminary and served a yearlong internship on the World Council of Churches
The global voyage sets sail Aug. 27 from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and will end Dec. 13 in San Diego. Their itinerary includes stops in Spain, Morocco, Ghana, South Africa, Mauritius, India, Singapore, Viet Nam, China, Japan and Hawaii.
