Loading...Two General Convention deputies from the Diocese of Kentucky have been appointed to committees and commissions of The Episcopal Church. That makes a total of four diocesan leaders who will be serving on bodies of the wider church.
Sam Dorr, a second term lay deputy and member of The Church of the Advent in Louisville, has been notified by the General Convention Office that he was appointed to serve on the Standing Commission on Mission and Evangelism.
The Rev. Dr. Bill Watson, a
first term deputy and rector of Grace Church in Hopkinsville, was appointed to the Joint Standing Committee on Program, Budget and Finance.
“I feel the Episcopal Church is about mission, and I’m really honored to have been selected,” said Dorr, who will be serving on the 13-member standing commission for six years. As a member of the mission and evangelism committee this summer, Dorr had an opportunity to work with mission issues being addressed at General Convention.
According to Dorr, all those serving on committees and commissions will gather for a joint meeting Nov. 17 in Chicago.
At General Convention, the Rev. Tim Mitchell, rector of Advent, was elected to serve on the Church Pension Group and the Rev. Amy Coultas was elected to the Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop.
