Loading...The St. John's Episcopal Youth group (grades 5-12) were busy at work during their 2011 spring break.
On Tuesday, April 5, Jaclyn Feezor, a graduate of Murray State University, and Deacon Rose Bogal-Albritten took 13 youth to the Murray-Calloway animal shelter. There, the youth walked dogs, petted cats and donated supplies that help keep the shelter open. After working hard they returned to St. John's for lunch and noon Eucharist.
That, however, was not enough service for the youth, who revealed a passion for helping in their community and requested to go to Need Line on Thursday, April 7. Rose and Jaclyn loaded up 10 youth at 9 a.m. that day and helped the youth fill grocery bags with food and supplies for families with 1-3 members. The youth were able to organize themselves, retrieve their assigned goods and pack the bags. After working hard they went to Dairy Queen for lunch and ice cream and then played games in the churchyard.
The high school youth members did a great job of teaching the younger ones the games they learned from All Saints summer camp. All left fulfilled knowing they had served in Murray's community and bonded in St. John's youth community.
