Applications are currently being accepted for the new Diocesan School of Ministry (SOM). This two-year program, which will begin in September 2007, is designed to provide education and formation for those individuals who are called to either the vocational diaconate or lay ministry. Classes will be held one weekend a month (from 6 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. (CT) Saturday) for two years (September through June) at All Saints Conference Center in Leitchfield. Tuition for each year of the program is $750, which includes housing, meals and all materials except textbooks. Some scholarship assistance is available.

Each weekend will begin with an opportunity to learn about and practice a form of spiritual discipline. The remainder of the weekend will be spent studying the topic designated for that month. Between weekend sessions, students will have reading assignments, ministry projects and papers to write. Content for the first year will include Hebrew Scripture, the New Testament, Church history, general and Anglican theology and Diakonia. Faculty will include diocesan clergy and laity as well as individuals from outside the diocese.The School of Ministry will accept an initial cohort of 15 participants and these individuals will complete the program before another group of students is accepted in 2009. Applications are being accepted until July 15th for the initial cohort of participants.
