Loading...Calvary Episcopal Church presents The BrandyWine Ensemble production of “Noel C. and Mrs. P.,” a celebration of the wit and wisdom of Noel Coward and Dorothy Parker, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27 and at 8:00 pm Saturday, April 28, at the Church at 821 South 4th Street. The performance on April 27 is preceded at 6:30 p.m. by a reception with hors ‘d’oeuvres, wine, champagne, beer, and soft drinks. The performance on April 28 is preceded at 6:00 p.m. by a three-course dinner.
“Noel C. and Mrs. P.” is a “cabaret for actors” incorporating lyrics, poems and personal witticisms of Coward and Parker as performed by the founding members of BrandyWine, Mary Anne Rickert and Roger Fristoe. The two have been acting together for more than 35 years and have performed in BrandyWine productions of “The Lion in Winter,” “Travels With My Aunt” and “The World of Carl Sandburg.” They also shared the stage in local productions of “The Little Foxes,” “A Thurber Carnival,” “The Browning Version,” “Here We Come Gathering” and “The Queens of France.”
Rickert has appeared professionally at Actors Theatre of Louisville, where her roles have included Annie Sullivan in “The Miracle Worker”; and at Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville, Ind., in leading roles in “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Steel Magnolias” and “Social Security.” Fristoe, formerly a film and theater critic for The Courier-Journal, has numerous acting credits in the Louisville area, most recently the one-man play “I Am My Own Wife” at The Drama Studio in Clarksville.
LaNell Barnes, a pianist with many years of experience in classical and choral music, will provide musical accompaniment for “Noel C. and Mrs. P.” and perform an overture of Coward melodies. Tenor Harvey Turner, veteran of a dozen shows at Derby Dinner Playhouse, will perform a medley of standards during Friday’s reception and Saturday’s dinner.
Tickets for Friday’s event are $30 each; for Saturday’s, $40 each. Proceeds will benefit Calvary’s community outreach programs.
