Loading...At this year's Cornerstone Celebration of The Episcopal Church Home on October 28, Sarah McNeal Few was honored as the Cornerstone Award winner.
The Cornerstone Award is given for outstanding leadership, vision and dedicated service to the residents of The Episcopal Church Home. The award was presented by Bishop Terry Allen White, chair of the Board of Trustees of the Home.
Few served as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Episcopal Church Home from 2001 to 2004 and a member of its St. Luke's Chapel Committee from 1999 to 2009. She has volunteered for the last 12 years as a lay Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Luke's Chapel, the on-site church for residents of the Home.
She has been instrumental in the successful completion of the new St. Luke's Chapel through her service as co-chairman of the St. Luke's Chapel Design Committee. She personally raised $500,000 of the $3.5 million necessary for its construction. Fifteen of Sarah's friends have donated a total of $25,500 to date in honor of Sarah receiving the Cornerstone Award. These monies have reduced the debt on the chapel to $80,000, about 2 percent of total construction costs. The remaining monies are currently being sought.
She is also a charter member of The John P. Morton Society, the planned giving society created to insure the Episcopal Church Home a sound financial future
