Loading...Beginning in October, Resurrection Episcopal Church will launch a pilot program for Karen and Karenni students primarily from our church families. The program will meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after school and will include homework help and tutoring, worship and a light meal, followed by a youth activity.
Episcopal churches and others in the community who are interested in this ministry will join Resurrection to provide staffing. Coordinating the new program will be a newcomer to the diocese, Corin Hooper, one of the five interns from the Episcopal Church's New Seeds Intern Program, and the Rev. Mary Abrams, a deacon at resurrection.
Volunteers will commit time from 3 to 7 p.m. on some Tuesdays or Thursdays. They have three ways to serve: they may provide homework help and tutoring in the English language and other subjects for middle and high school students; bring a simple supper for the youth and adult helpers; or organize a small group of friends to simplify transportation and make the afternoon even more fun. Financial support in any amount is always welcomed to provide for the program.
