Mark your calendars! The Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light (KIPL) is joining with the national Interfaith Power and Light in inviting faith leaders to give sermons, share reflections and host discussions or other events about global warming the weekend of February 11-13, 2011.

As the date approaches, the organization will offer a variety of resources to those who decide to participate, including the following:
- Denomination-specific liturgical and thematic notes to help in the preparation of sermons, reflections, devotionals, Bible studies and youth activities.
- Ready-to-go sample sermons on global warming.
- Global warming fact sheet and bulletin insert.
- Valentine's Day postcards for policy makers.
- Related films on DVD with discussion guides.
In addition, congregations can choose to screen films and host conversations with a focus on putting their faith into action. Click here to register.
Leading up to the event, participating congregations will receive Valentine's Day postcards to mail to their representatives, encouraging political leaders to love their neighbors and the earth by supporting policies that protect climate and curb greenhouse gas emissions.
Also available is a copy of the film Fighting Goliath/Covenant. Click here to download the discussion guide. The 40-minute film describes the faith community's role in halting a dozen coal power plants slated to be built in Texas. It's a powerful tale about how a few committed citizens can and did make a difference.
