Organist John Cantrell opens new season of recitals

Organist John Cantrell will perform a recital on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at 5 p.m. (EDT) at St. Francis in the Fields, U.S. 42 at Wolf Pen Branch Road, in eastern Louisville.

Cantrell is organist and choirmaster at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in New York City. He was formerly the organist and choirmaster at Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville.

Choral Evensong follows the recital, with repertoire by Neary, Kelly, and Wood.

Cantrell's concert opens a series of recitals at Evensong offered at St. Francis during the 2011-2012 program year.

October 2: Bruce Neswick (Organ Faculty, Indiana University) 


December 4: The University of Louisville Early Music Ensemble

February 5: Robert Bozeman (Organist, Christ Church Cathedral, Louisville)

March 4: Michael Beattie (Organist, Chapel of the Cross, Jackson, Mississippi)

April 1: Connie Golden, organ, and Jerome Amend, trumpet

All recitals begin at 5 p.m. (EDT) on the first Sunday of the month, and Choral Evensong follows at 5:30. Admission is free.
