Kentucky church musicians' conference in July

Diocesan News & Publications

A conference for church musicians will be held July 20-21 in Frankfort. Details follow in a letter from the president-elect of the Kentucky Chapter of the Church Music Directors Association.

Dear Choral Music Colleagues:

I want to invite you to our KY ACDA Summer Conference with Professor Rodney Eichenburger who promises something for faculty of all grade levels.  He will address voices, music, conducting and if you know Eichenburger, no telling what else!  He is a wonderful entertainer as well as teacher.

David Schwoebel, composer and music minister from Virginia, will create and guide our Music in Worship session sponsored by Hinshaw Music.

We will have reading sessions in sacred, multicultural and KY ACDA Honor Choir music.  You will have an opportunity during registration to respond to further reading session choices.

We are keeping the registration fee the same as last year during this economic stress.  Students and first time conference attendees will again be free for ACDA members.

The facilities at Highland Baptist Church are stunning.  Kathy Collier, their Minister of Music, has been most gracious opening the doors to KY ACDA.  Highlands Chef will offer dinner for us Monday evening in order to make the day much easier for us to navigate.

The Courtyard Marriott Downtown, about five miles from Highlands, is holding a block of rooms also at last year’s prices!  Registration information and maps are on our website.

Let KY ACDA provide you your vocal/choral music professional development.  Attend the conference; reunite with colleagues that can provide myriad ideas of music, voice or voicing issues, program concepts, conducting concerns.   Attend the conference and meet new colleagues, students, first-timers.  They may provide opportunities for you to share your expertise.  This is THE Conference that directly addresses the art and craft of our profession from beginning to end.

Please copy and share this letter to all elementary music faculty, middle school choral music faculty, high school choral music faculty, college/university choral music faculty, ministers of music of all faiths in you town, county, area of the state.  Look at the website   kyacda.org   Email or call me if you need further information.  I look forward to serving you and with you on behalf of vocal/choral music in Kentucky.
