Loading...The cruciform wall sculpture, usually the first thing visitors to diocesan offices see when they first step off the elevator, and two other diocesan artifacts will soon be seen by visitors to the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art.
The wall sculpture, an assemblage of printers' blocks, was created and given to the diocese by world renowned sculptor and Louisville Episcopalian Ed Hamilton, a member of St. George's Church.
The other museum-bound objects from diocesan offices are a 1967 painting, "Sermon on the Mount," by a Haitian painter (C. or L.) Auguste, which has been hanging on the hallway wall opposite the bishop's office, and the seldom seen ceremonial crosier of platinum and gold with stones that has been used by the diocese's bishops since 1898.
The objects will be part of the exhibition "Dimension in Spirituality" on display from March 5 to May 22. Also on loan to the exhibition will be a multimedia painting by the Very Rev. Mark Bourlakas, the dean of Christ Church Cathedral.
