Information has been made available about eight workshops that will be presented at this year's diocesan convention, which meets Friday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Louisville.
Two clusters of workshops, held concurrently, are scheduled for Friday afternoon: the first cluster of workshops will meet from 2 to 3 p.m., and the second group of programs will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. (all times EST).
Workshops will include a conversation with the diocese's new bishop, the Rt. Rev. Terry Allen White, on "Christian Formation Hopes for the Diocese." Also offered during the first cluster of workshops are sessions about the Digital Faith Community with the diocese's website consultant Dave Hagan and communications director Mary Jane Cherry; eco-ministry with the Rev. Jerry Cappel; and peace and justice with the Rev. Mary Abrams. During the second cluster of workshops, the following topics will be covered: changes to The Episcopal Church's health insurance canons with the Rev. W.R. "Rusty" McCowan of The Episcopal Medical Trust; radical, inclusive hospitality for all in parish ministry with Martha Bourlakas; Sister Emily Cooper, Kentucky's Florence Nightingale, with the Rev. Ken Thompson and Callie Hausman; and ecumenical clergy peer learning groups with the Rev. Marion McClure Taylor with the Kentucky Council of Churches.
