Loading...An "Interfaith Dialogue on Earth Care" will be held Feb. 19 and 20 at Western Kentucky University and Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green. The conference is sponsored by a host of churches, religious and other organizations in addition to the university and Christ Church.
Opening the event will be keynote speaker Dr. Matthew Sleeth, the executive director of Blessed Earth, an educational nonprofit organization that seeks to "inspire and equip faith communities to become better stewards of the earth" through outreach to churches, campuses and media. He is the author of Serve God and Save the Planet: A Christian Call to Action (Zondervan, April 2007), the introduction to the Green Bible (2008, HarperOne), and will release a second book, The Gospel According to the Earth: Why the Good Book is a Green Book, this spring. His talk, "Serve God, Save the Planet," will be given Friday (Feb. 19) evening on the Western Kentucky University campus, beginning at 7 p.m. (CT) in the Mass Media and Technology Hall Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
A conference on "Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, and Earth Care" will be held the next day (Saturday, Feb. 20) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 1215 State St. in downtown Bowling Green. WKU faculty and religious leaders will participate in a "dialogue" of presentations, responses and participant discussion. Advance registration fee is $20 ($15 for students), and $25 on site.
