The Bishop's Leadership Conference draws nigh! Our theme is taken from the "Bishop's Search Profile: A New Season of 
Gospel Mission."
The conference schedule is shaping up to be:

Session 1 on Friday:
Welcome and introduction by the bishop. Excerpts of the Search Profile pertaining to mission and long-planning will be highlighted.
Part a: What is Gospel Mission? Small-table discussion based on examples of mission as described in or flowing from Scripture, Tradition and the Prayer Book (liturgy, Baptismal Covenant, Catechism, etc.)
Part b: Given the examples of Gospel Mission shared at table, What is needed for Gospel Mission to be carried out? What must individuals and congregations be willing to do, be willing to do differently, or give up all together?
Ideas from both part a and part b will be recorded on large sticky notes and displayed. At the end of Session 1, the "post its" will be available for viewing and reflection. Conference participants will be encouraged to note those ideas mentioned most often, and particularly intriguing ideas.
Session 2 on Saturday:
8 a.m. breakfast. As breakfast ends, we will take another look at posted ideas, noting again themes mentioned most often. Those participants joining us Saturday morning will have this opportunity to learn about some of the previous session's work.
At 9 a.m. we will begin with prayer and name those ideas, ministries, programs, areas and so forth that are beginning to emerge as common priorities. Attention also will be paid to those most imaginative thoughts that help us see things differently.
Participants will then be asked to divide into one of four regional groups to discuss, brainstorm and begin to plan how the identified priorities might be best carried out both in individual congregations, throughout the region, and throughout the diocese. What is needed in terms of personnel, money and other resources?
Additionally, a fifth group will be invited to look at the priorities through the lens of the bishop. What resources would be needed or strengthened in order for the emerging diocesan priorities to be effectively supported? What would have to be done differently or done by others if new work was taken on?
As time allows, each group will share briefly some of thoughts discussed. Each group will be asked to plan its next gathering at the end of Session 2.
