Religious art and Symbol in the Spiritual Life

Pat Connell September 19, 2014

Midweek retread led by Brother Martin Erspamer.

Retreat gets an A+. Much better than I had imagined and a bargain at $235. St. Meinrad’s offers several mid-week retreats throughout the year. I took my bike and rode a back road to the Benedictine convent in Ferdinand. Did that on Tuesday and Wednesday.

One conference/workshop on Tuesday night
Three conferences/workshops on Wednesday
One conference/workshop on Thursday morning

Brother Martin is an artist. Primary medium is stain glass, but is also an excellent artist. He used the Triduum as the format for exploring the symbolism in religious art and architecture.

Accommodation excellent. Opportunity to participate with the monks in the liturgy of the hours.

I guess that is it for now. Plan on making other midweek retreats at St. Meinrad’s.
