Diaconal Discernment Day registration is underway

by The Rev. Dr. Rose Bogal-Allbritten

Diaconal Discernment Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (CDT) Saturday, May 3, at Grace Episcopal Church, Hopkinsville. Cosponsored by the Diocese of Kentucky’s Commission on Ministry and the Diocesan School of Ministry, the one-day program is intended to provide information for individuals discerning a call to the vocational diaconate and for spouses to learn more about ordained ministry.

The conference is free, but a completed application form signed by the applicant’s rector or vicar is to be submitted at least one week prior to the session the applicant plans to attend.

Topics discussed will include

• What is discernment?
• What is the vocational diaconate?
• What do vocational deacons do?
• How are vocational deacons formed in the Diocese of Kentucky?
• What are the steps in the ordination process?

Send applications to the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky, 425 South Second St., Suite 200, Louisville, KY 40202.  For additional information, contact the Rev. Dr. Rose Bogal-Allbritten, director of the School of Ministry, at (270) 293-9490 or rose.bogal@att.net.
